Five Weight Loss Facts
There are a huge number of people who make the decision to get started on their own weight loss program every single day. It is quite astounding the number of those people who are destined to fail at the attempt. It's as if there is some physical barrier to their being able to do what the set out to do. So why is this, when there is such a plentiful supply of good, well researched and tried and trusted information readily available?
The primary reason for this lack of success must only because the vast majority of those people simply either give up too soon, or they cheat. Not what you'd want to hear, perhaps, but true nonetheless! There are plenty of reasons for this. One of them is that people are often in such a rush and expect results to appear magically after only a few days. When reality hits, they simply give up, believing they simply aren't cut out for this. But that's nonsense of course, as the truth is anyone can lose weight if they really need to lose it! So to help things along, here are five weight loss facts that should hopefully cause you to sit down and rethink your own strategy.
1. Every single person's body is designed to maintain the correct weight for their height and build. If that goes out of alignment for any reason, maybe due to abuse or overeating, it only takes a small shift in how you use your body to restore it back into alignment. This will return it to the right weight.
2. Aiming to lose weight too fast by methods such as crash dieting may only be any good in the short term and may also be harmful to your health. Your body will naturally resist any attempts to do this by going into what's known as survival mode. In this state, your metabolism is curtailed in an attempt to reduce the impact of the sudden lack of nutrients. This decreases any benefits of the diet. Worse, when you stop dieting in this way and restart normal eating again, your body begins to store food as fat in readiness for the next perceived bout of starvation, meaning you could gain even more weight than before you started.
3. Doing too much strenuous exercise too soon can cause muscle damage especially if you're not used to it. This can lead to muscle and ligament damage which can prevent further exercise, thus having a detrimental effect on your efforts to lose weight.
4. Losing weight slowly is absolutely the way to succeed. Commence an exercise program slowly and gradually build up the time you spend exercising as well as the exertion levels. Always stretch before and after a workout to give your muscles more flexibility and prevent straining them.
5. Reduce your intake of calories through food and ensure the level is lower than the calories you burn through exercise. That way you'll lose weight until a perfect balance is restored. This is the most fundamental truth about weight loss.
By understanding these basic facts about the process of weight loss, you'll be in a better position than most people when it comes to achieving your own success. Only you can achieve your goals that you set because it's up to you to make it happen. At least when you know what you are doing, you'll give yourself the best possible chance to do that.
